This specification is formulated with a view to standardizing the procedure, scope and methods and unifying the technical requirements for swimming ability test of migration fishes for hydropower projects.
This specification is applicable to the swimming ability test of migration fishes for hydropower projects. 
The swimming ability test of migration fishes for hydropower projects shall follow the principles of safety, reliability, technical feasibility, economy, practicability, and ease of operations. Appropriate technologies and methods shall be selected for test according to the hydropower project characteristics, fish passage objectives, types of fish passage facilities, and biological characteristics of migration fishes.
In addition to this specification, the swimming ability test of migration fishes for hydropower projects shall comply with other current relevant standards of China.
